In the future, we may now develop and use alternative fuels for standby generators residential. The present fuel: gas and diesel, is now becoming more expensive and hard to get. Generators, like cars, must be retrofitted or modified to accept these new fuels in order to save money, and to reduce harmful carbon monoxide emissions.
The alternative fuel recommended is:
- Coco-fuel – this fuel came from coconuts. It is refined and mixed with ethanol. It is said that it produces less smoke and makes the engine run smoother.
- Used cooking oil fuel – this has been shown on some science television shows that the car or generator that has a diesel engine can run on used cooking oil after proper filtration and some small modifications are done on the oil’s molecular structure (which can be done easily). This is quite successful and some restaurants are donating their used oil to different transportation companies.
